The NTFA has announced its 2021 Women’s Team of the Year, and six of those selected have strong links to the Scottsdale Football Club.

Alex Hall was named captain of the team and her Magpie team mate Maggie Cuthbertson was also selected in the team.

Hall won Scottsdale’s best and fairest award this year with Cuthbertson runner-up. Both players were ranked in the top 10 in the association best and fairest award won by Georgia Nicholas from Old Scotch. Cuthbertson polled 14 votes, and Hall nine.

Former Scottsdale players Mikayla Binns, Dearne Taylor, Letitia Johnston and Danielle Kelly were also named in the Team of the Year.

Binns was named as coach of the team after leading Launceston to NTFAW premiers this season.

Taylor was a member of the Scottsdale women’s first premiership team in 2017, joining her father and grandfather, who also played in premiership teams for the Magpies. Taylor was runner-up in the association best and fairest.

Taylor and Binns were team mates in Launceston’s statewide premiership team in 2020, and also in the club’s winning NTFAW team this season.

Letitia Johnson played with Bridgenorth this year, while Kelly played in the losing Old Launcestonians team in the grand final. They too were members of the 2017 Scottsdale premiership team.
