Dirt bike rider Alex Williams had a scare during practice for the final round of the 2021 Tasmanian Motocross Championships at Goshen on Saturday.

The leading contender nearly crashed on a practice lap when his rear wheel seized.

He had to drag the bike back to the start and swap bikes to ride in the three rounds held on the day.

His lead on the championships points table leading into the event meant he only had to finish in a high position to take the title in the senior A grade 125cc class, Pro Lite.

He rode fairly conservatively and comfortably to take second place in each race and secure the championship.

The Championship dinner was held at the Bayside Inn at St Helens, where he received his sash and trophy, and also a perpetual trophy.
